The Enugu State Government has flagged-off the State Malaria Elimination Initiative, which offers free anti-malaria drugs and testing for residents.
The Enugu Commissioner for Health, Ikechukwu Obi, announced this at the flag-off on Wednesday and asked residents to report any healthcare facility charging for anti-malaria drugs and testing within the next two years.
Obi also says the government has established a whistleblower policy to ensure that malaria treatment remains free.
He says the government’s effort to provide free malaria treatment and testing, is to ensure healthcare services reach the people.
