The Enugu State Government has launched an investigation into the activities of Oriokpa Masquerade groups in that state.
The Enugu state Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Okey Ogbodo, confirmed the development to newsmen this Friday, saying the government is committed to maintaining public safety.
Two persons were reported to have died earlier in the week following the excessive activities of Oriokpa masqueraders at Nsukka.
Following the development, Ogbodo says the Enugu state government has summoned traditional rulers and the Presidents-General of the affected communities to address the issue, investigate the incidents, and bring those responsible to justice
