Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have made an attempt to arrest former Kogi state governor Yahaya Bello as reports say they surrounded the Kogi State Government Lodge in Abuja last night.
The Director of Bello’s Media Office, Ohiare Michael, said this on Wednesday evening, as he expressed alarm at the agency’s actions and said they should be held accountable if any harm comes to Bello.
Recall that there were conflicting reports yesterday from both Bello’s media office and the EFCC about Bello’s visit to the EFCC. Bello’s media office had said he voluntarily visited the EFCC headquarters earlier on Wednesday but was asked to leave and return later.
However, EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, countered this insisting that Bello was not in their custody and remains wanted.
