The Edo State Government has denied allegations by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, that Governor Monday Okpebholo compensated some “Fulani terrorists” with N6bn following the killing of 16 hunters in Uromi.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, condemned the claim made by IPOB, and described it as an attempt to incite ethnic division and de-stabilize the peace of Edo State.

Itua insists that no compensation of N6 billion was approved or paid to any group and called on security agencies to investigate the sources of the inciting publication.

Recall that on March 28, 16 hunters from Kano State were lynched in Uromi. Following the killings, Governor Okpebholo visited Kano to appeal to the families of the victims and to prevent any reprisals.
