Dubai airport`s passenger drops by 66 percent

Dubai airport’s passenger traffic has dropped by two-thirds in March following Iran’s attacks on the United Arab Emirates during the Middle East war.

The emirate’s media office said this to newsmen this Monday, saying traveller numbers at Dubai International, dropped to 2.5 million, down 66 percent year on year, despite being known as the world busiest for international passenger traffic.

Dubai International was targeted several times by drones as the oil-rich UAE was affected by Iran’s retaliation for US-Israeli strikes, having faced a period of regional disruption that constrained airspace capacity and flight schedules.

The CEO of Dubai Airports, Paul Griffiths, said that with the airspace within the UAE now fully restored, Dubai Airports is moving decisively to scale up operations and increase flight movements.
