A group of supporters of the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, have begun a protest tagged “One Million March” in Aba, Abia State, to demand his release.
According to the videos making the rounds on social media, the protesters, majorly of young men, are seen chanting songs calling for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom.
From the videos, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore can be seen leading the protesters while security agents can be seen standing by.
The organizers of the protest, the Coalition of Lovers of Freedom, had announced the protest yesterday, urging supporters from across the region to converge in Aba to peacefully demand Kanu’s freedom.
Meanwhile, a former member of the Abia State House of Assembly, Obinna Ichita, has appealed to participants to maintain peace during the protest.
