CISLAC Condemns Judgment Halting Rivers Allocation

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has expressed profound concern over the recent Federal High Court ruling that restricts the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other financial institutions from releasing monthly allocations to the Rivers State Government.

CISLAC’s Executive Director, Auwal Rafsanjani, warns that judicial decisions of this nature appear to serve the interests of a select few, undermining the rule of law and the foundational tenets of Nigeria’s democracy.

He lamented that blocking allocations to a state not only undermines its’ autonomy but could cause destabilization as well as endanger regions currently at peace.

He urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria to act decisively in maintaining judicial standards and to caution judges against rulings that could inadvertently destabilize Nigeria’s democracy or economic structure.
