Chad Reports 17 Dead After Drone Strike from Sudan

The Chadian government says drone from Sudan has killed 17 people after it bombed the border town of Tine in the Eastern part of the country.

The incident which happened on Wednesday night is the latest spillover into Chad from the conflict in Sudan, where the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have been fighting the Sudanese army since April 2023.

Reports say the paramilitaries have conducted several operations near the Chad border, leading to deaths on the Chadian side.

The Chadian government announced this death toll this Thursday saying the drone attack occurred despite various warnings to the warring parties in Sudan and even  the closure of the border.

Meanwhile, Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby has ordered the army to retaliate against any attack coming from Sudan.
