A bus driver has set himself and an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) on fire while trying to evade arrest on the Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
The spokesman for LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, says the driver’s vehicle had been intercepted on Tuesday, for violating traffic regulations in the Cele inward Mile 2 area, but in a bid to evade arrest, the driver and his conductor resorted to pouring petrol on LASTMA personnel and engaging in hostile confrontations and physical attacks against officers present.
Taofiq says the injured official who sustained some burns has been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
He urged all commercial and other drivers to comply fully with traffic regulations and respect the authority of LASTMA personnel as He reiterated LASTMA’s unwavering commitment to preserving order and ensuring the safety of Lagos roads.
