Victor Boniface was benched as Bayer Leverkusen lost to Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday night.
Boniface was named in Leverkusen’s squad for the game after recovering from a thigh problem.
He sustained the injury on International duty last November.
His compatriot, Nathan Tella was named in the starting line-up by manager Xabi Alonso.
