United States (US) President, Joe Biden, has issued an official pardon for his son, Hunter Biden, who was facing sentencing for two criminal cases, despite repeatedly saying he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son.

Biden said this on Sunday, saying that his son had been singled out and unfairly prosecuted due to his family name.

He says there has been an effort to break Hunter and him too, saying there’s no reason to believe it will stop there and he has had enough.

Biden says throughout his career he had followed the “simple principle” of telling the American people the truth.

He says he believes in the justice system, but he believes politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice, saying when he made this decision over the weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further.
