Resident doctors at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) have called on the Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, to overturn the reported exclusion of clinical lecturers from competing for the position of vice chancellor.
The doctors made the call on Wednesday as the strike embarked upon by the clinical lecturers entered the fourth week.
Recall that the clinical lecturers have been on strike since September 25, protesting against the alleged inclusion of a criterion, which they say does not consider the peculiarities of their career progression path.
The application requirements say applicants for the position of the university’s vice chancellor must possess a first degree, a Master’s degree and a PhD for 15 years. However, the lecturers said the requirements did not fit into their academic pathway at NAU and globally.
