Anambra Police Command says it has discovered a burnt corpse in a dump site in Iyiowa Odekpe community of Ogbaru Local Government Area.
The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said this on Wednesday, saying the burnt body is suspected to be a victim of jungle justice.
He said preliminary findings revealed that the deceased and his gang members specialized in stealing car batteries. It was alleged that the victim was caught and set ablaze by an angry mob after their criminal operations in the area, while other gang members escaped the scene.
Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, condemned the mob action urging the people of Anambra to always exercise restraint by not taking the law into their hands.
