The Anambra State Government has prohibited the operations of the Condemned Iron scavengers in the state.
The Commissioner for Information in Anambra State, Paul Nwosu said this to newsmen this Friday, saying these scavengers steal the metal coverings of gutters, the iron medians on the highways and the steel railings on the sides of the motorways.
Nwosu says anybody doing business with illegal metal scavengers will be arrested and prosecuted because it amounts to receiving stolen property.
However, He says the government of Anambra state will begin to register legitimate scrap metal dealers so that they can continue their contribution to the economy of the state without hindrances.
