The Department of State Services, DSS, has arraigned former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami,alongside his son, abdulazi on a five-count charge of terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms.
The DSS, in count-one of the charge, accused malami of knowingly abetting terrorism financing by refusing to prosecute terrorism financiers whose case files were brought to his office as the AGF, for prosecution.
however, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read to them before trial Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.
Abdulmalik refused an oral request for bail, saying that since the court operates on records, the defendant should file a written application.
she also adjourned the case till February 20, for bail and commencement of trial, ordering that the defendants should remain in custody of the security agency.
