The newly formed African Democratic Congress has clarified that Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, have been exempted from defecting from their current political platforms ahead of the 2027 polls.
The interim National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said this to journalists on Wednesday, following the warning issued on Tuesday by the interim National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, who insisted that the party will not tolerate any form of anti-party activities or indiscipline.
Abdullahi says both Obi and El-Rufai have been granted a waiver to remain in their legacy parties for now because of their supporters and allies who have obtained forms to contest elections and so they cannot be asked to defect.
