Lagos suspends guidelines on safe abortion

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed the suspension of the “State Guidelines on Safe Termination of Pregnancy for Legal Indications” issued by the Directorate of Family Health and Nutrition in the Ministry of Health.

Sanwo-Olu stated this on Thursday, saying that the new guidelines will not be implemented until adequate deliberation.

He also said the suspension will allow for adequate public sensitisation and stakeholder engagement to reach a consensus required for successful guideline development.

Chelsea Unveil New Home kit in honour of Ted Drake

Premier League giants Chelsea have unveiled their new home kit for the 2022/23 football campaign.

The Blues, as they are popularly called, unveiled the new kit this Thursday, on their website chelseafc.com.

Chelsea says the new kit pays homage to one of their greatest managers Ted Drake, and will be worn by Chelsea throughout the 2022/23 season.

Reports say it’s been 70 years since Drake joined Chelsea as manager in 1952 and his influence can still be strongly felt at Stamford Bridge.

Drake was the man who changed the club’s nickname from ‘the Pensioners’ to ‘the Blues’.

UK Prime Minister Agrees to Resign

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has agreed to resign, ending an unprecedented political crisis over his future that has paralyzed Britain’s government.

An official in Johnson’s Downing Street office confirmed the prime minister will announce his resignation later this Thursday.

Johnson had initially rebuffed calls by his Cabinet to step down in the wake of ethics scandals.

However, he eventually gave in after more than 40 ministers quit his government and told him to resign.

2023 elections shouldn’t be based on primitive considerations – Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has stated that the 2023 general elections will not be based on one turn, ethnicity, or religion.

He states this while fielding questions in an interview saying tha the elections will be based on a Nigerian agenda to save the country.

He explained that in 2023 Nigerians must elect a capable candidate to pilot the country’s affairs, saying that primitive considerations by Nigerians during electoral cycles, has led Nigeria to its current quagmire.

He stated that Nigeria at the moment needs an expert to save it and appealed to Nigerians to vote for him as the best man for the job and not because of primitive consideration.

The presidential candidate said that he wants Nigerians to vote for him not because he is from the South or on a regional basis, but because of his competence and what he can offer Nigerians.
