Seventeen out of the 18 local government chairmen in Edo State have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Recall that a few days ago, PDP lawmakers in the Edo state House of Assembly defected to the APC, which has now given the ruling party majority status in the legislature.
Reports say the defection took place at the New Festival Hall in the Government House in Edo state, where the state Governor Monday Okpebholo welcomed the new members to the APC, as he applauded their courage and political foresight in making the decision to leave the PDP.
The governor expressed hope that more opposition party leaders would join the APC due to his administration’s infrastructural strides.
