Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has described the Court of Appeal’s verdict released on Thursday as a temporary setback.

Recall that the Court of Appeal declared the March 18 governorship poll in the state inconclusive

The appellate court said the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bello Matawalle, successfully proved that Lawal was not duly elected and therefore ordered a rerun in three local government areas of Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.

However, Lawal says the court’s verdict will not deter him from retaining the mandate given to him by the people.

He said his legal team will review the judgment before taking the next necessary action, while calling on the people of Zamfara to remain calm.
