According to a press release by the West Africa Broadcast & Media Academy (WABMA), this award ceremony is organized by the US Consulate General Lagos Political Reporting Project, PRP, in collaboration with WABMA, Enugu Literary Society (ELS), and WABMA Media Development Foundation.

 

The award ceremony aims to celebrate excellence in political journalism as awards will be presented in various categories, including Print, Broadcast, and Photo & Video Journalism. Honorable Mentions will also recognize the contributions of select participating media firms.

 

The Political Reporting Project (PRP) is a non-governmental program that provided training and support to 150 reporters, editors, photojournalists, and videographers covering the 2023 election cycle in Nigeria. Initiated in September 2022, PRP included a series of workshops and created an online community of certified fact-checkers and content producers, which will culminate in the upcoming awards ceremony.
