Authorities in the United States have deported dozens of Haitian nationals back to their country.
Reports say this is coming just less than 24 hours after the United States urged its own citizens to leave Haiti “as soon as possible” due to increased violence.
The executive director of the Haitian Bridge Alliance advocacy group, Guerline Jozef, has condemned the deportations describing it as inhumane and explaining that asylum seekers and migrants are being sent back to the same conditions they fled in the first place, if not worse.
However, she says she has been in contact with some of the families of the Haitians, over 60 of them, who were on the removal flight from Alexandria, Louisiana, to Port-au-Prince.
