The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has announced the reduction of its fees following protests by students of the university.

 

In a statement signed by the Head of the Communication Unit of UNILAG, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, this Friday morning, the decision was reached after a meeting between the National president of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Usman Barambu accompanied by other student association officers and the university team led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola.

 

Some of the fees reduced include the Utility Charges, which was reduced from twenty thousand naira to fifteen thousand naira, the fees for new undergraduate students, reduced from one hundred and twenty-six thousand to one hundred and sixteen thousand for courses without Laboratories and Studios, and from one hundred and seventy-six thousand to one hundred and sixty-six thousand for courses with Laboratories and Studios.

 

Returning undergraduate students also received a twenty-thousand-naira fee reduction across all study categories, amongst other reductions.
