As the world marks this year’s International Day of Democracy today, September 15th, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Somtochukwu Udeze has emphasized the need for various governments to give democracy a chance to thrive by creating an enabling environment for the masses to contribute to good governance and reap the benefits thereof.

 

Udeze, who commended the State lawmakers for their efforts towards involving their constituents in their programmes and development agenda to enhance their living standards, reminded lawmakers of their functions in the promotion of democracy and good governance.

 

The Speaker commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for enthroning participatory democracy in the state, saying his massive road construction among other projects being extended to all the local government areas in the state will give those in the hinterlands a sense of belonging.
