Troops Repel Terrorist Attack, Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army says it rescued nine abducted civilians when it’s troops repelled a terrorist attack on a Forward Operating Base in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba said the successful defense of the base resulted in heavy casualties for the attackers, forcing them to retreat.
He said the abducted civilians were rescued when the troops pursued the attackers and discovered that they had captives kidnapped from neighbouring communities and hidden in the forests
However he said one Nigerian Army officer and a police officer were killed in the attack.
