Malicious Attacks Hit Rail lines in France, disrupts services

French authorities say high-Speed Rail lines in France have been hit by several malicious attacks which have heavily disrupted rail services.

The national rail company of France told newsmen this Friday that the attacks happened overnight just hours before the Olympics opening ceremony.

Rail operators say that attacks affected the Atlantic, North and East lines and damaged their facilities, leaving 800,000 passengers affected.

French Transport minister Patrice Vergriete has condemned the attacks, which he called criminal incidents, saying efforts are being made to restore services.

Paris police chief Laurent Nunez says authorities are investigating what happened, saying officers will be sent to overcrowded stations to ensure order.
