NCSCN Withdraws From Planned Hunger Protests

The National Civil Society Council of Nigeria (NCSCN) says it has withdrawn from the planned hunger protests expected to begin on Thursday.

The Executive Director of NCSCN, Blessing Akinlosotu spoke this Wednesday to newsmen in Abuja, saying that although they understand the frustrations and pain caused by the current challenges in the country, the issues must be approached with a constructive mindset.

The group called on Nigerians to engage in constructive dialogue and collaboration which could achieve lasting changes, rather than protests, which can have destructive impacts on stability, economy, and infrastructure.

The NCSCN has also officially called on its members across the federation to distance themselves from participating in the planned protest, while continuing to engage with the proponents of the protest and relevant authorities.
