Troops Destroy Illegal Oil Refining Sites In Rivers, Bayelsa

The Land Component, Joint Task Force, South-South and Operation Delta Safe troops, all of the Nigerian army, have destroyed several illegal refining sites in Rivers and Bayelsa States.

 

The Acting Deputy Director of Division 6 and Army Public Relations officer, Jonah Danjuma, told this to newsmen in Port Harcourt this Wednesday morning; saying that the feat was the outcome of a renewed vigour aimed at reducing the activities of notorious illegal oil bunkering merchants in the Niger Delta Region.

 

Three illegal refining sites at Odagwa in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State were destroyed and over 30, 000 litres of stolen and illegally refined products were recovered as well as three receivers and massive connecting pipes which convey stolen crude to illegal refining sites were also discovered.

 

Danjuma says that routine checks in the creeks of Bayelsa state have also led to the discovery and confiscation of 12, 000 litres of stolen and illegally refined products.

 

He says other Items recovered at the illegal refining site include One Fibre Boat, Five Ovens, several metal drums as well as massive reservoirs used as storage facilities for this illegal venture.
