Former Nigeria’s track and field athlete Annette Echikunwoke has clinched the silver medal in the hammer throw for Team USA on Tuesday in Paris.
Echikunwoke won silver after her third throw was overtaken by Canada’s Camryn Rogers, who got the gold medal.
Her victory marks her as the first women’s hammer throw medal winner for the United States.
Recall that Echikunwoke switched to the US after a mix-up with the Athletic Federation of Nigeria that denied her the opportunity to compete for Nigeria in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
