Bangladesh Nobel Winner Yunus to Lead Interim Govt

The presidency In Bangladesh have said that Nobel-winning microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus will lead an interim government after mass protests forced prime minister Sheikh Hasina to flee.

 

The appointment comes quickly after student leaders called on Yunus who is 84-years-old to lead the government.

 

The decision was made in a meeting with President Mohammed Shahabuddin, the heads of the army, navy and air force, and student leaders.

 

One of the leaders of the Students against Discrimination who participated in the meeting Haid Islam, said that Yunus will have the title of chief advisor.

 

However, there are few other details about the planned government, including the role of the military.
