NFVCB Wades In On Controversy Over Hiqab Use in Blood Brothers

NFVCB wades in on Controversy over Niqab Use in Blood Brothers

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has said it has reached out to the producers of the Nigerian movie Blood Brothers following complaints over the use of the niqab in a robbery scene in the movie.

The Executive Director of the Muslim Rights Concern Ishaq Akintola had called for the ban on the yet-to-be-released movie on Thursday describing the movie as ‘satanic’, saying it depicts Muslim women as criminals and incites the public against them

However, the NFVCB Director General, Shaibu Husseini says the board has made contact with the producers to address the contentious issue, assuring that the agency will not tolerate any film or video content that disrespects religious, cultural, or ethnic sensibilities.
