The parent firm of Facebook and Instagram, Meta, has apologised for removing social media posts by Malaysian Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, about the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Meta tendered the apology this Tuesday, a day after Anwar’s office summoned Meta representatives to seek an explanation on the post removal.
They say it was an operational error, saying that the content has already been restored with the correct newsworthy label.
Anwar’s posts included a video showing the premier on a phone call with a Hamas official, offering his condolences on the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
The note by Meta On Instagram, which was, shared by Anwar, says the posts were taken down because of association with dangerous individuals and organisations.
