The Supreme Court has this Wednesday, dismissed an appeal against the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Fintiri, by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate in the State, Aisha Dahiru also known as Binani.

The APC and Binani filed the appeal to set aside the concurrent verdict of the court of appeal and the Adamawa state Governorship Election petitions tribunal which dismissed their case and upheld fintiri’s election of March 18th, 2023.

The five-member panel led by John Okoro in a unanimous decision have now dismissed the petition as lacking in merit and upheld the election of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

The court also condemned the conduct of the state former Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari, who earlier declared Binani winner of the election, describing it as irresponsible and criminal.

Okoro also says the exclusive power to announce election results lies with the returning officer and not the resident electoral commissioner.
