The Federal Government on Monday has asked the organised Labour to shelve its planned strike slated to commence today.

 

The government reminded the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress of a restraining order issued by the National Industrial Court, Abuja, on Friday.

 

Recall the President of the Trades Union Congress, TUC Festus Osifo, had announced at a press conference in Abuja on Monday that the labour action will commence  this Tuesday in protest against the alleged assault on the President of the Nigeria labour congress, Joe Ajaero by suspected thugs in Owerri, Imo State, on November 1.

 

However In A statement on Monday by the Head of Media of, Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria( MWUN,) John Ikemefuna, says that the strike was coming on the instructions of the NLC after its National Executive Council meeting held,on Monday, directing all affiliates of the NLC to strictly comply.
