Sanwo-Olu: Lagos Ready to Host 2026 CAF Awards

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed the state’s readiness to host the 2026 CAF Awards.

Sanwo-Olu made this known after a five-man CAF delegation inspected the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, better known as the National Theatre, venue of the event on Monday.

The CAF team had arrived in Nigeria last Thursday to assess facilities ahead of Nigeria’s hosting of the 48th Ordinary General Assembly and annual CAF Awards ceremony.

In a short statement on Monday night after the inspection, Sanwo-Olu said, “Earlier today, officials from the Lagos State Sports Commission received the Confederation of African Football team in Lagos for their inspection visit ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards.

“We guided them through the venue and gathered their feedback. Hosting an event of this scale means every single detail counts and our team is working hard behind the scenes to make sure we get it right.

“Lagos is ready and we look forward to putting on a brilliant show for African football.”
