Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended an open invitation to residents and visitors to be part of Africa’s first all-electric powerboat championship, the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, scheduled to be held in Lagos from October 3 to 5.
Sanwo-Olu announced the invitation this Monday on social media, describing the event as a historic moment for Lagos and the continent, and saying it reflects the city’s drive for innovation, sustainability, and global recognition.
He says the championship will be a celebration of the creativity and resilience of Lagosians and will provide an opportunity to showcase the state as a welcoming and dynamic city.
Reports say the championship will bring the planet’s fastest electric boats to Lagos waters. The event places Lagos alongside international host destinations such as Monaco, Venice, and Jeddah.
