The Benue State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old suspected bandits’ arms supplier, identified as Joro Jarkata, in Guma Local Government Area of the state.
The state command’s spokesperson, Peter Aondona said to newsmen this Friday that the arrest followed a proactive stop-and-search operation where they intercepted two persons riding on a motorcycle.
Aondona says the suspect is in police custody, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Makurdi, for discreet investigations and efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and other circumstances surrounding the conveyance of the ammunition.
Aondona reiterated the command’s commitment to curbing the proliferation of illegal firearms and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police formation.
