The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has called on the Federal Government to declare a day of national mourning on the recent killings in Plateau State.

The student body expressed sadness over the news of the plateau killings through a statement from its Senate President, Ekundina Elvis, made available to newsmen this Friday.

The association says it is highly embarrassing that no one has been arrested in connection with the killings and no concrete step has been taken by the government to honor the memories of those that were killed.

The association called on the government to stop the condolence visitations from the ruling class and instead make concerted efforts towards the protection of lives and property of the Nigerian people.

Meanwhile, armed assailants attacked another community in Bokkos, one of the local government areas of the previous killings, on Thursday night, burning and destroying homes, however, reports say no death was recorded due to the timely intervention of security personnel.
