The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Yakubu Mahmood, may on Thursday be summoned to appear before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PREPEC) to give evidence on the conduct of the 25th of February presidential election.

Mahmood will be required to appear in court in response to a summons issued by PDP presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The former vice president had sued President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, INEC, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an effort to challenge the conduct of the election that led to Tinubu’s election as president.

Mahmood will appear in court on June 15 or 16, according to Chief Chris Uche, the lead attorney for Atiku and the PDP, who made the announcement shortly before the day’s proceedings ended. Mahmood will testify about how the contested presidential election was conducted and present documents to support the PDP candidate.
