The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has clarified that it did not sign the communiqué that ended its recent strike against Dangote Refinery.
Recall that the union suspended its nationwide strike on Wednesday after government intervention, but it is still insisting that its concerns were not fully addressed.
PENGASSAN president, Festus Osifo, says the document presented at the meeting was not an agreement as it wasn’t signed because of some “grey areas”, however the strike was suspended in consideration of the federal government and Nigerians.
He said the union will not hesitate to resume the industrial action if the Dangote refinery does not keep to their end of the bargain.
He also emphasised that the union’s fight is not about itself but about Nigerian workers who were laid off for exercising their right to association.
