The Oyo State Executive Council has appealed to the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, to allow students to go back to school and discontinue the disruption of the academic calendar.
The Oyo state Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, shared the council’s appeal on Wednesday after the council meeting.
Oyelade said while the reasons for the withdrawal of the students from school by the NUT are understandable, the collateral implications, both social and economic, are raising unintended concerns and should equally be considered by the NUT.
Recall that the NUT had directed teachers in public schools in the state to boycott classrooms following the abduction of teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
