July 14, 2022
The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit challenging Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s emergence as the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the Osun gubernatorial election, scheduled for this coming Saturday, July 16, 2022.
In a judgement delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo, the court, in holds that the suit that sought to invalidate governor Oyetola’s nomination as flag-bearer of the APC for the election, lacks merit and deserves to be dismissed.
The court also held that the suit was an abuse of the judicial process, and was not backed with relevant laws.
Justice Ekwo said the Plaintiff, Moshood Adeoti, failed to establish a reasonable cause of action to warrant Oyetola’s disqualification.
Recall that Adeoti, who’s a chieftain of APC, sued the APC, Oyetola and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), accusing the governor of unlawfully contesting the primary as member of the Caretaker Extraordinary and Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).
