The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)has dismissed recent claims suggesting that Nigerians have lost confidence in the country’s electoral system, saying that such assertions are baseless and unsupported by facts.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi told newsmen that the evidence points in a different direction, highlighting robust public engagement in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
Oyekanmi pointed to the high level of participation—particularly among young Nigerians—in the current voter registration drive as a strong indicator of public trust.
He said that the recent bye-elections were proof that “Nigerians have kept faith with the electoral process.”
