The European Union (EU) has proposed a ban on Russian oil, amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

The president of the European union, Ursula von der Leyen, said this via her official Twitter handle this Wednesday morning.

Von der Leyen said the union will ensure to phase out Russian oil in an orderly fashion to maximize pressure on Russia, while minimizing the impact on EU economies.

she also proposed to start working on an ambitious recovery package for Ukraine to bring massive investment to meet the needs and the necessary reforms for the country.
