The Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has set up an independent panel of inquiry to investigate the fire outbreak that ravaged AfriLand Towers on Broad Street, Lagos, on September 16, 2025.
Recall that the fire incident claimed several lives, including that of a member of the association Ndidi Osaemedike-Okeke.
The Lagos NBA Chairman, Uchenna Ogunedo-Akingbade, says the independent panel of inquiry is part of the NBA’s mandate to uphold the rule of law and protect fundamental human rights.
She says the panel will probe the circumstances surrounding the fire, assess compliance with safety standards, and make recommendations to prevent future occurrences.
