The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has reportedly suspended its nationwide protest earlier scheduled to commence today, Wednesday, August 9.
Reports say the Federal government representatives met with the doctors on Tuesday over their ongoing strike action and the planned protest for today, pleading with them to return to work and give the government time to work on their demands.
The NARD president, Emeka Orji, said the meeting was fruitful and hence announced the cancellation of the planned protest, and also promised that the strike would be cancelled as well after they table their demands at the NEC.
Speaking in the same vein, Senate President who intervened, Godswill Akpabio, thanked the medical doctors for honoring the Senate by calling off their planned national protest and also working towards calling off the strike.
