Two separate accidents that occurred on Wednesday along the Ozalla/4-Corner axis of the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway have killed a total of ten persons while ten others were injured.
Reports say the first crash happened around 9 a.m. when a truck, loaded with cement collided with a Toyota Corolla trying to overtake another truck. 2 other buses got affected by the collision. The 5 occupants of the Toyota were burnt to death, while one occupant of one of the buses also died.
The second accident occurred at about 3 p.m. on the same road, when another truck carrying cement allegedly drove one-way and rammed into a tricycle. The four occupants of the tricycle also died.
The Enugu state police spokesman Daniel Ndukwe said the Enugu Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, has ordered a probe into the crashes as he also strongly cautioned drivers to exercise utmost care while driving, especially during these Ember Months.
