Over 60 persons may have died after a boat carrying migrants capsized off Cape Verde in West Africa.

Reports say the boat was carrying migrants allegedly from Senegal, and was at sea for over a month. 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) however says thirty-eight people have been rescued, including four children aged between 12 and 16.

Cape Verde officials have called for global action on migration to help prevent further loss of life.
