Makinde Says Creation Of State Police Is Long Overdue
Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, has said that the establishment of state police is long overdue, noting that when operational, it will help reduce the level of insecurity in the country.
 
Makinde, made these declarations during the state primary elections of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, on Thursday, appealed to the federal government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu to speed up action on the creation of state police.
 
He also said this would help strengthen the security architecture and curb criminality across the country and the establishment of state police would improve local intelligence gathering.
 
Makinde further said that this initiative would enhance the capacity of states to respond swiftly and adequately to security threats within their domains.
