The Lagos State Government has announced palliative works to be carried out by its Public Works Corporation and the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing on failed sections of the Third Mainland Bridge.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, told newsmen this Friday that the repairs would go on for two consecutive Sundays, September 17 and September 24 2003, between 7 am to 7 pm on both days.

Toriola said the palliative works were scheduled for Sundays to minimize inconveniences for motorists, and implored drivers to be patient and observe safety measures during the palliative works on the asphalt pavement of the bridge to avoid accidents.
