The government of Lagos State has sealed up the Mile 12 International Market and Owode Onirin Market over non-compliance with environmental laws.
The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, said this on his X handle this Friday.
Gawat said the operatives from Lagos State Waste Management authority (LAWMA) and KAI, in a joint operation closed up the market in the early hours of this Friday as directed by the Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab.
He said the markets were sealed due to indiscriminate dumping and burning of refuse, filthy environment, blocked and littered drainages, as well as of illegal and indiscriminate parking and the abandonment of trucks on major roads.
